Eduardo and Holly OchoaEduardo Ochoa and Holly Byers Ochoa, January 1971, south of Mar del Plata on Argentina’s Atlantic coast

Eduardo Ochoa has announced his retirement from CSUMB effective June 30, 2022. After 39 years in the CSU system and 10 years at CSUMB, Eduardo and his wife, Holly Byers Ochoa, will begin a new chapter including continuing their love and exploration of travel abroad.

Their passion for international adventure and appreciation of the value of culturally diverse experiences will continue to benefit our students in perpetuity. They have left a legacy to our University with the establishment of the Eduardo M. and Holly Byers Ochoa Endowment for California State University, Monterey Bay Student International Experience

This scholarship, which will be awarded annually beginning in 2023, is to support CSUMB students to ensure financial barriers do not inhibit their ability to have an international educational experience. Students who are awarded this scholarship must complete a Study Abroad application, enroll full-time and meet a cumulative 2.5 or higher grade point average (GPA). All awardees will be expected to serve as a Study Abroad Ambassador for the semester after they return from their program abroad. Students will be selected by the Academic Committee on International Programs based on their personal statement, need, and application.

To honor Eduardo and Holly, and support their vision of international study abroad for as many CSUMB students as possible, we invite you to donate to this endowment. Your gift will be a testament to their legacy of service to California State University and special love for the students of CSUMB.
